Apply for a dropped kerb (Central Bedfordshire)
Check you have the right council. Central Bedfordshire Council doesn't cover every address in the area. These neighbouring places have their own highway authority, with different fees and rules: Bedford (Bedford Borough Council: dropped kerb page, fees not yet checked by us); Luton (Luton Borough Council: dropped kerb page, fees not yet checked by us). Check your postcode.
Who builds dropped kerbs in Central Bedfordshire?
Central Bedfordshire says it has to install the dropped kerb. After a paid site visit, it tells you the timescale and cost.
You don't need to find a contractor for the crossing. Central Bedfordshire builds dropped kerbs itself, so apply to the council and pay its quote. Use our printable checklist and timeline to get your application right first time. You can still choose your own builder for the driveway.
