Check you have the right council. Shropshire Council doesn't cover every address in the area. Who builds dropped kerbs in Shropshire?

Only an experienced, properly accredited contractor who has registered the necessary insurance and accreditation with Shropshire Council can do the work; you can't do it yourself. Once you're approved, your contractor submits a Road Space Booking Form before construction.

How much does a dropped kerb cost in Shropshire?

Homeowner application fee: £470. Vehicle access dropped kerb fee for a single residential property (2026/27). Not refundable, even if you're refused. It includes the council's inspections during and after the works; Shropshire says fees may vary with the complexity of the application.

How to apply in Shropshire

  1. Check whether you need planning permission and get it first.
  2. Read the information for applicants, then apply online at least four weeks before the proposed start (12 weeks if a road closure is needed), paying £470.
  3. Shropshire inspects the site and decides; approval is valid for 3 years.
  4. Your contractor submits a Road Space Booking Form; works start once it's accepted.
  5. The council inspects during the works and within six months of completion.
