Who builds dropped kerbs in Warwickshire?
Kerbs can only be dropped by an accredited contractor once Warwickshire grants permission. It publishes a list of Street Works Accredited contractors but doesn't recommend one, and once your application is approved you can employ a contractor of your choice, subject to conditions explained at the next stage.

How to apply in Warwickshire
- Check permissions: planning permission is needed on an A, B or C road; council-owned or rented homes need the owner's written permission.
- Complete the application form (Form A) and send it with your supporting documents by post or email.
- Warwickshire contacts you to arrange payment of the £174 fee within 10 working days.
- The Locality team reviews the application, usually within 10 working days of payment.
- If acceptable, your contractor completes Form B; a final permission letter follows, valid for two years.

Size and siting rules
- Hard-standing at least 5 m deep at its shortest point and 2.4 m wide, at 90 degrees to the road (6 m deep if it leads to a garage).
- Usually refused less than 15 m from a junction.
- Full-width or in-and-out accesses aren't normally permitted.
- Street lights within 1 m of the access must be moved at your cost, with permission.
Good to know
- Highway trees won't be removed to make room for an access.
- Where a driveway slopes towards the road, drainage must stop surface water reaching the highway.
