Who builds dropped kerbs in East Renfrewshire?

In East Renfrewshire your dropped kerb application must be approved before any works are carried out. If it is, you appoint a contractor, who must be on the Street Works Qualification Register, hold £5,000,000 public liability insurance and get a Road Opening Permit before starting.

Under section 56 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, no works can be carried out in a public road without the roads authority's written consent, so East Renfrewshire gives permission as the roads authority (often called a road opening permit or dropped kerb permit). England's Highways Act and planning rules don't apply in Scotland: ask East Renfrewshire's planning team whether your driveway or access needs planning permission.
