Angus: Request to form a new or alter an existing driveway
Who builds dropped kerbs in Angus?
You apply to Angus Council for permission to form or alter a vehicle crossing, agreeing to build it to the council's specification. Once permission is granted you apply for Consent to Execute Works in a Road, and construction can't start until that's granted and paid for.
Scotland has its own rules. Under section 56 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, no works can be carried out in a public road without the roads authority's written consent, so Angus gives permission as the roads authority (often called a road opening permit or dropped kerb permit). England's Highways Act and planning rules don't apply in Scotland: ask Angus's planning team whether your driveway or access needs planning permission.
